I just got back from working on a beautiful house in Chico, California. It was a fast-paced four and a half days trying to pack in as much as we could to finish up the decorating that was started last year. The day I arrived, which happened to be my birthday, my clients took me out for a little treat before we started working. They drove me past the groves of walnut trees to the rice fields near the Llano Seco Wildlife Refuge to see the snow geese.
Aren't these trees interesting looking? They graft English Walnut trees on to Black Walnut stumps to take advantage of the better roots of the Black Walnut trees. Even without leaves, the orchards are just beautiful.
There are hundreds (I even heard a million) snow geese in this area.

We walked down this path and when we got out to where the geese were they all took flight at once making the most amazing flapping sound. It was quite a sight. I only wish I had taken my camera with me. These were taken with my phone which I grabbed but not soon enough to really capture it. As they flew away, my clients said to me, "Happy Birthday!" Ahhhh! What a wonderful treat!

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"
-Matthew 6:25-27
What a beautiful way to spend a birthday! Happy Birthday and many more :) Thanks for putting in the verse at the end -- made my day!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos Sher. Love the first one. I think Mags might just like Chico!

Such a gorgeous post, thank you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post, Sherry. We get the Canadian geese through here every year. I love to see their formations and hear their calls. And your Bible verse - sometimes it's hard to let go of the worries we have, this is inspirational!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this post! My now husband and I lived in Chico for 5 years. This spot was one of our absolute favorite places. There's nothing else like it! Pus, my gushy girly side always think of a steamy Ryan Gosling from the scene in The Notebook! : )
