A new year.
A new decade.
A new start.
Resolutions.
Lists.
Changes.
Improvements.
It's kind of funny actually because it is really just a day like any other days... the sun comes up and the sun goes down. January 1. 2011. It is just a date; a number. But we put a lot of importance on that. It feels fresh and clean and almost like a do-over. I woke up today and it felt different. It is January and January always feels like a new start. I wanted this day to matter. "What was I going to do on this first day of this new year and this new decade?" I was thinking. I wanted to start with a clean house, a clean heart, a clean 'inside my head'.

My daughter's new beginning last year! |
The checker at the market last night said he doesn't think anything of it. It is not a big deal to him because one day is like the next. But I don't think so. I think that it is an
opportunity. Pamela from
Magical Meadows started last year marking the first day of each month with a "New Month's Resolution" - and what she is really saying is that each month is a new beginning. I like that.
Last year, I read the Bible in a year. A passage designated for each day of the year, in succession, so that on the last day of the year you are reading the last words of the Bible. Today I started over again. And the first words I read were, "In the beginning God..." Genesis 1:1. and that is what today feels like to me.
A beginning.
Oh, it looks like I really need to work on the clean house...a very inspiring post. Wishing you a happy new year. Love from London xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a great combination of words today. Thanks for the inspiration. And please tell your daughter that I love her wedding rings, they are simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, in the beginning... I love that. I too love your daughters wedding rings, elegant look.
ReplyDeleteMy beginning starts next week, till then I am still in 2010 in my head, my step father pasted away between xmas and new years so I am flying off tomorrow for the funeral... the tree can wait, the closet cleaning can wait, the beginning with resolutions will have to wait...
I will read this post again when I get back and be inspired all over again.
Thank you for this amazing post.
Regards, Carol Ann x
