"What you find in your mind is what you put there. Put good things in there."I had framed it to remind myself that I can choose what I clutter my head with. And it is true. And so today I wanted to remind all of you that while it is great to de-clutter your drawers and closets, the best thing you can do for yourself is to de-clutter your mind.
This afternoon as I was standing in line at HomeGoods (Oh, I found a beautiful black armoire with drawers for my client's guest room!!!), I saw a book that caught my eye. It was called, "Throw Out Fifty Things: Clear the Clutter, Find Your Life" by Gail Blanke and it made me think, what if I took 50 things out of my head that didn't need to be there? Anger. Un-forgiveness. Self criticism. Doubt. Shame. Regret. Worry.
And I was reminded of this passage from Philippians:
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things." (Phil. 4:8)

ReplyDeleteThis is so true...while I have been busy cleaning out every drawer, closet and corner in my house, what I really need to do is de-clutter my mind. Thanks for sharing the passage from Philippians.
Great pics, love the Hermes boxes in the shower. If I had all those boxes I would be willing to take baths!

Hermes boxes? I thought they were roof tiles lol!!! Just shows the sort of clutter I have to live with that a bathroom full of building materials looked so familiar to me!
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note, Sherri, you hit the spot just so once again. So much rubbish swilling around in THERE I can hardly think straight. And reminded of Cormac Mcarthy's 'The Road'in which the father warns his son to avoid gazing on horrible sights because once it's in THERE you can't get it out. True true. Try to ameliorate by good things and happy thoughts;)
