I'm not really a towel bar person. In fact, I realized I don't even have a towel bar in any of our bathrooms. Oh, I have had them, but somehow in remodeling or re-painting, they have been removed and never replaced. I couldn't tell you why exactly ... maybe it is the fact that it is hard to keep the towels hanging neat. Or maybe it is because the bars cut the wall in half. It doesn't really matter why, the question is, what do you do with towels if there are no bars?
I do like them stacked ....
And I enjoy them rolled ...
And oddly enough, I don't even mind them thrown over the side of the tub:

But what I really love are towels on hooks. I love the simplicity of them.

And to my eyes ... they are never messy!

There are some really great hooks to pick from.

And speaking of hooks ... I saw this at Crate and Barrel this week and really liked it:

In person it was so much better looking, the hooks slide and the uses are endless!
I say hooks ... what do you prefer?

I have a mixture...but I'm with you hooks look so much better! Thanks for sharing!
Huh, I took the towel rack out of my downstairs bathroom when I repainted, and have dreaded putting it back up. It was over kill anyway with just a sink and toilet. Thanks for this post! I now have a better solution :)
Hook'em Dan-o. Love my Dog leash hook that I use for towels!
I have both...but only hooks in my son's bathroom...and those only get used half the time :(

hooks for sure...and like Mary Ann even those are only used some of the time in my son's bathroom. Funny...I was just working on a bathroom post and was going to mention hooks...because who has time to fold a towel so that it looks nice on a towel bar? I agree, hooks are never messy.
