"Nothing occurs that is beyond His control, apart from His command, or without His permission. Nothing. He rules over all events, including blessings and calamities. He rules over everything seen and unseen, material and immaterial, good and evil." - Charles R. Swindoll
Sherri I love this and I believe with all my heart what you have said. Did I ever tell you about the time I was going through something particularly difficult. I was full of worry, consumed really..then I got in my car and was stopped at a red light. I looked at the frame around the license plate on the car stopped in front of me. This is what it said, "Don't worry.
ReplyDeleteIt's in God's hands." It was just the message I needed from God. Thanks for your reminder too.
Hi Barb! I love your story ... it reminds me of something I just read about Frederick Buechner. He was sitting parked by the side of the road in a personal crisis when a car barrels down the road with a license plate bearing the simple message "T-R-U-S-T." (From Yancey's Soul Survivor). Buechner says, "Of all the entries in the entire lexicon it was the word trust that I needed most to hear. It was a chance thing, but also a moment of epiphany -revelation-telling me, 'trust your children, trust yourself, trust God, trust life; just trust' " Yancey goes on to say, "In ways like these, ambiguous, elusive, and subject to different interpretations, God edges into our lives."
ReplyDeleteFabulous. Much needed today! The two stories above are great, thank you both for sharing them. It is interesting, I have been open to signs in the past few months and have gotten them, I believe. Those things that happen that make you go hmmm.... someone's telling me something. Great Sunday post, thanks Sherri.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful. I'm going to make this into a framed photo for my friend with cancer. It will be something that we all need to be reminded of daily.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday Sher. Love you.
Bravo! Worry is a wasted emotion and leave it to God.

Thanks for the post, I needed to be reminded of that.
