To paint or not to paint

Decor Pad {via}

I am working with a client who has a lovely home on the water. The view is incredible and we are in the process of updating the kitchen and dining area; a large one-room space that overlooks the water. We are painting her oak cabinets white, raising ceilings and making the space lighter and brighter. There is a large brick fireplace on one of the walls and that red brick feels in the way to me. I would love to paint it white but the clients are not so sure. So I did a little research to give them a few examples. Sometimes (well, most of the time) having a good visual helps! Do you want to see some great before and after photos?

A dramatic change, right? Now look at this amazing transformation:

What a difference painting the dark wood and the brick made in their room! And how about this one:

It is not that I don't like red brick because I do. In the right setting. But sometimes I just think that white is right. How about you?

I agree 100%! I used to be hard to convince on this topic because I do love natural brick, however, painting it white can be so refreshing and completely renovate the room.

I'd definitely paint it, without a doubt! I'm just against when it's an exposed wall, because I think they're very charming.

Thank you for stopping by today, Sherri!

I hope you're having a great day, sweetie.

I'm a huge fan of natural brick. However, when painted(white) it looks fresh and clean.

I am a huge fan of white brick. In my current house I added a white brick fireplace, a brick wall with an arch and put white brick in the master bath behind the sink and a brick wall in my daughter's bathroom. It all looks like it has been there for years. So I may be partial here, but white brick makes me so happy. I've lived in houses that are almost 100 years old and we were the first ones to paint the brick white.
