On being a mother

Making the decision to have a child is momentous.  It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.  ~Elizabeth Stone
There is nothing I cherish more in my life than being a mother. It is the greatest gift I have ever been given. It has brought me me more joy, more challenge and more reward than I could have ever imagined. Being given the honor of bringing two beautiful daughters into this world and watching them grow into the amazing young women they are today has been humbling and has brought me to my knees more times than I can count. And it has been so much fun! I would not give up one precious moment.

This year is especially joyful because it is my firstborn daughter's very first Mother's Day.  I could not be more thankful. Whether you are celebrating the mother you are, remembering the mother you had, or dreaming about the mother you hope to be one day ... I hope you have a lovely day on this day that we honor motherhood. Happy Mother's Day everyone.

… he tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young… Isaiah 40:11

  2. Okay, we really are two peas! I was going to use that first quote too today but I am using it when I write a mother post coming up...you know, one of these days. This post made me cry, so beautiful. Thank you so much for always being such a bright light in my blog world, I really appreciate it!

  3. I've been pretty emotional today - just thinking about how wonderful my own mother is and how inspiring she is - and then thinking about me and my daughter and what a great example my Mom was for me. Life is so good. Hope you're having a great weekend Sherri!

  6. Sherry,

I thought about you and even read the book you sent to Matthew to the kids. I just didn't come here before because I didn't want to turn my computer on. I had to take a day off! :-)

Know that you're always in my thoughts and in my heart. I really cherish you, my friend.
