An artful fire screen

I was working with a new client on Monday and we were talking about how a new HomeGoods was going into her neighborhood. She mentioned that she told her husband that it was going to be dangerous having it so close to her house. And so we had a long conversation about buying just for the sake of buying and how the better way was to only go in those stores with a purpose instead of just to see what great deals they have.

And I told her how freeing it was when I made my pact with myself to stop buying; to stop bringing more stuff into my house.

Except that the other day I was at HomeGoods innocently shopping for a client - picking up items to style her bathroom with - and found something that was just too good to pass up. I wasn't sure where I was going to use it - I thought it might look fun sitting on the mantle. So I broke my pact.

It was only $29 I rationed.  I think it makes a great fire screen.

I picked up some flowers from the florist on the way home from work today ... they let me go into the refrigerator and select them myself. I could have stayed in there forever! (I had a very hot day climbing up and down a client's stairs).

I love how they wrapped them up for me! Sometimes it is just nice to buy a present for yourself. :D

That is the most awesome "fire screen" I have ever seen. Great thinking!

Lol. Oh the pull of the purchase! I have forbid it for myself, mostly because I end up wasting money on things I don't really need, and substituting for the pieces I really want. But that, my friend, was a good one and it's brilliant at the fireplace. And those orange roses? Never seen one that gorgeous :)

That's beautiful! Way to think outside the box! I have the same tall white vase on my mantel. I can catch a glimpse of your sideboard and I'm thinking I would love it!

You were justified in breaking your pact! It looks so good in that spot! I was just perking my house, man is that ever a good feeling!

You couldn't pass that 'fire screen' up~! It is an awesome find!
I worked at a florist before and the treasures ARE inside the cooler.

Well you certainly deserve a few treats for yourself my friend, and that "screen" is really awesome. You know what I thought immediately, it's a little Kelly Wearstler - so chic. And I love getting fresh flowers. I'm such a wimp when it comes to buying things - it really has to be a deal. I picked up a really cool magazine holder the other day for $15. I've been looking for one forever and this was IT. I'll show it on the blog soon. Have a fabulous weekend Sherri - we're celebrating my daughter's 2nd birthday!

Hello my DEAR friend!

How are you???

We had a very busy summer, but it seems it will get back to normal in September. Everything is good, though.. Matthew is crawling!!! How's your princess doing? :-)

What a great find. I love your idea, Sherri.

About flowers, I used to send them to myself when I was younger! I just wanted to send some love_ to myself! :-)

Wishing a very blessed weekend, Sherri.

I've missing you.

Hope you don't mind my saying, with love xxx I would hang it in front of the whole front and not leaning on the floor, not sure but there must be a stick on holder that would attach to the tiles... great find, great thinking out side the box... I love designers and their ideas, have a great weekend. x

Sherri,
So far, I haven't been able to keep that "pact" with myself, but I'm trying!! Home Goods is a dangerous place fortunately or not, there isn't one near here! Your fire screen is very unusual and very cool, looks great, something not to be passed up!
